The heritage site consists of the City Hall Building, the adjoining old Brick Garage, and the city lots they sit on, located at 40 10th Avenue South, Cranbrook, B.C.

The Cranbrook City Hall is recognized for its historic value as the first purpose-built City Hall building in Cranbrook, B.C. The heritage site was originally planned in 1910 and was completed in 1912. The design specified brick material to prevent fire and to integrate with the brick and stone-built financial institutions that were being built in Cranbrook in that era.
The historic site has aesthetic value for the style of the building which represented Cranbrook's forward thinking planning for the Municipal Government and its faith in future growth.The City Hall was built by local contractors George Leask and Vince Liddicoat, with some 125,000 locally-fired bricks, at cost of approximately $15,000.
